SE Fleet Sailstice 2008
Hoo - hoooweee!!! The south east fleet does it again for the third straight year, and what a successfull sailstice weekend it was.
We had folks come in as early as Tuesday and from as far away as Maryland.
What a great turnout we had, plenty of activities for everyone, and lots of good ol’ fashioned fun was had by all.
I got there Thursday, late at usual (I am trying to keep the pattern so as to be late for my funeral), and to the dismay of my peers which for decency I can not directly quote.
When I first arrived at the park, I was greeted by our lovely park ranger Wendy who immediately saved my "posterity" by printing up some of the flyers for the BYYB to add to my very few, as I forgot to do until ½ hour before I left. Having a dinosaur of a printer, I could only run off a few.
I pulled up to my campsite by the water, and noticed a few campsites down had a great white canopy, and a well prepared campsite. I thought to my self now that’s camping in style. A few moments later, as I was unloading my camping gear, I had the pleasure of finally meeting Kayak Karl Nisson.

As Karl and I set up my base camp, (thank you Karl)
The castilles pulled in and they began to set up camp as well.
We all settled in for the evening at Karl’s site, as it was the most comfortable with the great white big top.
We pulled out the guitars and Karl, Brian Watford and I sat around and picked for a little bit.
Keith was playing his mean harmonica, but is not shown here.
we all retired to our respective sites for the evening, I just sat in my chair till the wee hours of the evening looking out on the lake and listening to the sounds (very soothing).
when I awoke the next morning I cooked a big breakfast for all who came by to enjoy. we ate and discussed the activities of the day, and of sat. I got a quick ride out on the Whipoorwill with keith before it all started and once it was in motion the weekend was a blur.

We pulled up to the dock and walked in the direction of the campsites and Ed Jones pulled in with Fairwind.
We all pitched in and set Ed's boat up to get 'er ready for the open sea's.

Then Ed launched me in Fairwind to bring it to the dock.

A short time later, Dustin and Kaela arrived with thier boat, Luna.

We all headed down to the ramp and set up area to get Kens boat launched...

And that sun was hot...

Hey! Is anybody on the Boat?

Away we go!

Captains Ken, and Keith getting the bugs worked out ...

Thats one happy skipper...

Congratulations Ken, Sandy bottoms mate.
We Later met Porter Harvey, and his georgeous Yacht. Who to my great luck was a fantastic help to us all. He offered his help with the sailstice activitys and put his boat in our regatta as well.
He crafted this beautiful boat with stunning detail.
sorry for the low quality of my camera.

Simply beautiful.
We all spent the rest of the day getting reaquainted, and prepairing for the next days festivties. I bieng no stranger to comfort, spent most of the evening at karles site, and could not help admiring the beautiful Kayak he had built, my camera has done this georgeous boat no credit what so ever.
